摘要： Etectrospray ionization techniques are used to generate reagents that ionize analytes for mass spectrometry analysis by charge transfer. Such techniques may be performed under ambient conditions. Suitable precursors for such reagents include ioπizabte nonpolar solvents, such as toluene or xylenes : polar solvents, such as water or alchohois. inert gases, such as helium or nitrogen, or combinations thereof. Environmental conditions in the ionization chamber of the mass spectrograph can be manipulated to generate a selected ion of an analyte in preference to other ions.

摘要： Apparatus and method for diagnosing a source of muscular pain, wherein the apparatus includes a housing, an electrical signal generator mounted within the housing, and a pair of electrodes, one of which is mounted on one end of the housing and the other of which is mounted on an opposite end of the housing. The generator may include either an analog waveform generator or a digital signal processor. Each of the electrodes stimulates a muscle with an electrical signal generated by the generator. One of the electrodes has a relatively small contact area for targeting smaller muscles or muscle groups, while the other electrode has a relatively large contact area for targeting larger muscles or muscle groups. The apparatus is a self-contained, wireless unit and is highly maneuverable, which allows a user to quickly and easily diagnose a source of muscle pain.

摘要： A bone repair scaffold having two moduli that match those of the cancellous and cortical bone in a patient receiving a bone graft/implant. The bone repair scaffold possesses increased mechanical properties to sustain physiological loading and biologically active capability to facilitate bone fusion. The bone repair scaffold may be 3D-printed, which allows for a variety of scaffold designs and configurations. Pore size, interconnected porosity, shape, and modulus of the bone repair scaffold may be modified for different bone graft applications, whether it is used as filler for bone cancer resections or trauma, or as a fusion device in cases of surgery. Depending on the defect location of the bone shaft, the relative porosity of the scaffold may be modified to account for changes in cortical bone thickness. A method for treating a bone defect using the bone repair scaffold is also disclosed.

摘要： Graphene-carbon nanotube multi-stack three-dimensional architectures (graphene-CNT stacks) are formed by a “popcorn-like” growth method, in which carbon nanotubes are grown throughout the architecture in a continuous step. Alternating layers of graphene and a transition metal are grown by a vapor deposition process. The metal is fragmented and etched to form an array of catalytic sites. Carbon nanotubes grow from the catalytic sites in a vapor-solid-liquid process. The graphene-CNT stacks have applications in electrical energy storage devices, such as supercapacitors and batteries. The directly grown carbon nanotube array between graphene layers provides ease of ion diffusion and electron transfer, in addition to being an active material, spacer and electron pathway.
