    • A technique is provided for automatic frequency offset correction in a wireless communication system. After demodulating and decoding a received signal in a receiver, channel estimation is also performed. The technique further includes re-encoding and re-modulating the decoded and demodulated signal with a coding and modulation scheme different from the received signal. The signal is reconstructed signal on the basis of the re-encoded and re-modulated signal and estimated channel characteristics. A frequency error is estimated based on the reconstructed signal and the original received signal. A threshold for a comparator is determined on the basis of the estimated offset amount determined by the comparison threshold and the estimated frequency offset.

    • Various embodiments of the present invention adjust an operating mode of a configurable receiver based at least in part on a selected communication service to be provided and an available signal quality. A control unit receives data related to one or more selected communication services to be provided. The control unit also receives information about the environmental operating conditions in which the configurable receiver is operating, via one or more signal quality metrics. The control unit adjusts the operating mode of the configurable receiver by modifying the gain of a received signal, the channel bandwidth, or controlling the synthesizers or equalizers.

    • This disclosure is related to a fast motion estimation method for implementing in a video encoder. A particular method includes determining early termination based on the value of a sum of absolute difference (SAD0). The method also includes performing motion prediction using a motion vector from a previous frame as a prediction point. The method further includes using the prediction point as the center to obtain the integral motion vector by conducting a 3×3 cross searching until a minimum sum of absolute difference (minSAD) is located at the center of the cross and predicting a location of a half-pixel point based upon a point corresponding to the integral motion vector, values of the minimum sum of absolute difference of other four cross points.

    • A networking method of single frequency network in a TD-SCDMA system includes the steps of: (1) deciding a networking configuration scheme by a universal mobile telecommunications system terrestrial radio access network (UTRAN), (2) based on the decided networking configuration scheme, configuring an intra-frequency cell info list information element and an inter-frequency cell info list information element in system information and measurement control messages by the UTRAN, (3) transmitting signals over a servicing area by the UTRAN, and (4) receiving the system information and measurement control messages by a user equipment (UE) from the UTRAN, acquiring working mode configuration information of each frequency and each timeslot of a serving cell and neighboring cells, and judging whether there are duplicated cell information elements in the intra-frequency cell info list information element or the inter-frequency cell info list information element.
