摘要： A method of determining a radiation treatment plan for delivering radiation to a patient using an external-beam radiation treatment system is described. A first clinical goal and a second clinical goal are received, wherein the first clinical goal includes a first acceptable threshold value and a first desired threshold value for a first quality index relating to a first statistical quantity of a dose distribution, and the second clinical goal includes a second acceptable threshold value and a second desired threshold value for a second quality index relating to a second statistical quantity of the dose distribution. A cost function is obtained which includes a first term with a first weight and a second term with a second weight, wherein the first term is proportional to a value of the first quality index in excess of the first acceptable threshold value, and the second term is proportional to a value of the second quality index in excess of the second acceptable threshold value, and wherein the first weight is inversely proportional to a difference between the first desired threshold value and the first acceptable threshold value, and the second weight is inversely proportional to a difference between the second desired threshold value and the second acceptable threshold value. Optimization then uses the cost function to obtain an optimal radiation treatment plan having an optimal value for the cost function.

摘要： Streamlined and partially automated methods of setting normal tissue objectives in radiation treatment planning are provided. These methods may be applied to multiple-target cases as well as single-target cases. The methods can impose one or more target-specific dose falloff constraints around each target, taking into account geometric characteristics of each target such as target volume and shape. In some embodiments, methods can also take into account a planner's preferences for target dose homogeneity. In some embodiments, methods can generate additional dose falloff constraints in locations between two targets where dose bridging is likely to occur.

A medical image control engine provides several synchronous functional capabilities, which comprises an input module, a blending factor synchronization module, a window/level synchronization module, a display module, and an image storage. For window/level adjustment of two images in blended views, the blending factor synchronization module is configured to automatically link the activation of a window/level control of one image with a transparency blending factor that affects both images. For synchronization of window/level adjustments of two or more images, a window/level synchronization module is configured to automatically change window/level parameters of all remaining images when the user makes an adjustment to a window/level control of one image such that all images with updated window/level parameters are displayed simultaneously.
