    • A method for melting ends of rods, particularly glass rods or tubes, is provided to perform uniform post-melting treatment of ends of glass rods used for electric or electronic parts and to prevent damages caused by sharp ends, including degradation of stability, optical properties, etc. A method for melting ends of rods comprises the steps of: inserting glass rods(9) into receiving portions(51) in a carrier(5); and melting at least one end of each glass rod by flame of a burner(3) while the carrier moves along the conveying direction and passes through the burner and at least one rail(7), wherein the glass rods are lifted by the rain in the receiving portions and pivot on the rail during the melting step.
