摘要： A hand vacuum cleaner comprising a lightweight motor housing (10) containing a revolving brush (96). A bag assembly (12) selectively separable from the housing is sealable to the housing with an elastomeric retaining ring (32) including a sealing and retaining bead (34) received in a recessed slot area (30) of a bag attachment collar (26). A fan (66) is mounted on a motor shaft locking surface (84) including a wall portion tapering towards the fan. The shaft locks onto a mating fan bore locking surface (88). A shaft extension (90) threaded on the motor shaft (80) is urged against the fan by resistance of a belt driving a revolving brush (96) which continually tightens the shaft extension on the motor shaft. A stone shield (60) is circumferentially spaced about the fan to block items impinging against the housing from the fan from damaging the housing. The housing further includes an air deflector received in the bag assembly having end portion disposed radially inwardly from the housing outer wall whereby the deflector directs the working air to facilitate greater storage of vacuumed dirt in the bag and prevent heavy objects received in the bag from rolling back into the housing and contacting the fan. A nozzle guard (102) is mounted on a nozzle (20) including brush bearing housing retaining elements (106) disposed for an interference fit with the bearing housing (98) whereby the brush is positively retained in the nozzle.

摘要： An upright vacuum cleaner (A) includes an upright housing section (B) and a nozzle section (C). A cyclonic airflow dirt and dust separating chamber (54) is defined in said upright housing section. A suction source (E) pulls air and entrained dirt, dust, and other contaminants through a main suction opening (26) formed in the underside (24) of the nozzle and into the cyclonic airflow chamber (54). The cyclonic airflow chamber causes the suction airstream to travel in a cyclonic path such that the entrained contaminants are separated therefrom and deposited into a dirt container (52) that defines the lower portion of the chamber (54). A main filter element (H) filters residual contaminants from the suction airstream between the chamber and the suction source. The main filter element is preferably made from high-density polyethylene porous filter media. A final filter assembly (F) filters the suction airstream discharged by the suction source to ensure that the air discharged into the atmosphere is contaminant free, including those contaminants introduced into the airstream by the suction source itself.

An air outlet member (70) is in fluid connection with the suction opening (48, 50). The air outlet member (70) includes a sleeve (71) pivotally mounted to the nozzle and a coupling (74) for selective fluid connection with the housing (10). The coupling (74) is connected to a first fan shell section (20). A second fan shell section (22) is secured to the first fan shell section such that a fan chamber is defined between them.
