    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of forming a field coil for a slotless stator.SOLUTION: A method of forming a field coil for a slotless stator, includes the steps of: winding an insulation wire for each coil winding around a mandrel in a spiral shape to form a first coil group, each turn of the wire being adjacent to the next turn of the wire; shifting the insulation wire from a rear edge of each coil winding to a wire position at a front edge of each coil winding in a second coil group, along the mandrel in an axial direction after the step of forming the first coil group; winding the insulation wire for each coil winding around the mandrel in a spiral shape to form a second coil group; removing the mandrel from the wound first and second coil groups; folding the wound coil groups into a single layer web shape so that coil winding segments are alternately arranged; and winding the web in a cylinder shape so as to form a field coil.
