摘要： In a video compression system odd (17) and even (16) fields of video signal are independently compressed in sequences of intraframe and interframe compression modes. The odd and even fields of independently compressed data are interleaved (14) for transmission. The fields are interleaved such that intraframe even field compressed data occurs midway between successive fields of intraframe odd field compressed data. The interleaved sequence provides (21) receivers with twice the number of entry points into the signal for decoding without increasing the amount of data transmitted.

摘要： An apparatus for electrophotographically manufacturing a luminescent screen assembly on a substrate (18), for use within a CRT includes a developer for developing a photoconductive layer (34), having a latent image thereon, with dry-powdered, triboelectrically-charged screen structure materials (48, 48'). The photoconductive layer (34) overlies a conductive layer (32) in contact with the substrate (18). 摘要： High definition or enhanced television signals include supplementary information which is double-sideband modulated in quadrature with the picture carrier, and passed through an inverse Nyquist filter (222) before being combined (224) with a conventional vestigial sideband (221) modulated main video signal. A receiver which recovers both the main video signal and the supplementary information processes the received video signal through an IF filter (228) having a vestigial sideband frequency response characteristic. Two synchronous detectors (230, 232) recover in-phase and quadrature phase signal components from the filtered television signals, these recovered signals each include quadrature crosstalk distortion components from the other signal. The crosstalk from the supplementary signal into the main signal is cancelled by filtering (246) the recovered quadrature signal and adding (244) the result to the recovered in-phase signal. This filtering also equalizes the in-phase signal by converting the quadrature distortion components in the recovered quadrature signal into reinforcing signal components in the in-phase signal. This signal recovery system is advantageously used with a ghost cancellation system.

摘要： Apparatus and a method of synchronizing the component signals of a multi-component augmented television signal between its generation reception are disclosed. The disclosed apparatus includes circuitry which generates a training signal that indicates the position of the first pixel in each horizontal line interval of the video signal. This training signal is inserted into one horizontal line interval of the active video signal for transmission. The receiver (1320) includes circuitry (1325) which separates the training signal and derives a timing signal from it. The timing signal is used to define the pixel positions of various decoded components of the received video signal to facilitate their combination. The timing signal is also used to align the color subcarrier signal and to generate other carrier and subcarrier signals used in the decoding process. Two training signals are disclosed: a pseudo-random noise sequence and a time-reversed, all-pass filtered, raised-cosine 2T pulse.
