摘要： A solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) system includes hot zone enclosure walls formed as a substantially continuous thermally conductive path each comprising materials having a coefficient of thermal conductivity of greater than 100 W/nr'iv. The SOFC further includes a CPOX reactor that includes a fuel reactor body formed as a thermally conductive path comprising materials having a coefficient of thermal conductivity of greater than 100 W/m°K. The fuel reactor body conducts thermal energy generated by CPOX reaction out of the system to a heat dissipating flange supported in ambient air. The flange is configured to dissipate sufficient thermal energy from the fuel reactor body to maintain the fuel reactor body in a range of about 100°C to 250°C. A fan is optionally provided to cool the heat dissipating flange.

摘要： A solid oxide fuel cell system including a main plate, an inner cylinder attached to the main plate, an intermediate cylinder attached to the main plate such that the intermediate cylinder contains a cathode air stream, and an outer cylinder attached to the main plate. An exhaust annular gap is formed between the intermediate and outer cylinders such that hot exhaust gases flow through the exhaust annular gap and heat is transferred from the hot exhaust gases to the cathode air stream. The solid oxide fuel cell system may also include a two-stage tail gas combustor.

摘要： Purge systems and methods are disclosed for flushing unreacted materials and byproducts from a reactor. In one embodiment, the reactor houses a hydrogen generation catalyst and the system comprises a hydrogen generation fuel cartridge containing a reservoir that stores water which may be recovered from the exhaust of a fuel cell. The reservoir may comprise a flexible bladder or a piston-type configuration. Water is delivered from the reservoir to flush the reactor of any residual fuel and/or byproducts.

The plurality planar elements each comprise a thermally conductive material having a coefficient of thermal conductivity that is a least 100 W/mK such as aluminum or copper. The planar elements are thermally conductively coupled to each other to provide a continuous thermally conductive pathway that extends from perimeter edges of the cell chamber to perimeter edges of the plurality of planar elements. An SOFC stack comprises a plurality of the planar SOFC cell units stacked one above another.

The permeate assembly supports one or more permselective foils (130,132,218,232,318) over a hollow cavity (134,272,306) supported by a microscreen element (142,144,228,230,326). The microscreen element includes non-porous perimeter walls (190,192,278) supported on a frame surface and a porous central area (194,280) supported over the hollow cavity. A porous spacer (138,140,174,234) disposed inside the hollow cavity structurally supports the entire microscreen surface spanning the hollow cavity while also providing a void volume for receiving fluid passing through the porous central area and for conveying the fluid through the hollow cavity.
