    • PURPOSE: To provide the subject device designed to surely catch a weft inserted into a shed by a stretching nozzle mounted on the sley of a loom and a blower device set up in the vicinity of the stretching nozzle to effect sure picking through avoiding return of the weft to its insertion end. CONSTITUTION: This device for stretching a weft works as follows: for each weaving cycle, a weft 8 is inserted into a shed by the aid of airflow passing through a yarn carrying duct formed of the U-shaped recess of a read 2, concurrently a weft remaining end 11 is sucked into a yarn guide duct 17 by the actuation of a stretching nozzle 13 mounted on a sley 1 to effect picking; subsequently, the sley 1 is advanced, beating the weft 8 along a cloth line 9 and forcing it into a yarn clip 23, then the sley 1 is retreated, a warp 5 is crossed, to weave the weft 8. When the sley 1 is retreated, the actuation of the stretching nozzle 13 is stopped, concurrently a blower device 14 set up near the stretching nozzle 13 is set in motion and an airflow at an angle of 10-30 deg. in respect to the weft 8 is blown out to discharge the weft 8 from the yarn guide duct 17. The actuation of the blower device 14 is stopped prior to insertion of the succeeding weft 8.

    • PURPOSE: To retrieve yarn end on a yarn-feed spool by forming the device configuration from a means to generate an air stream, a means to put the whole surface of the yarn-feed spool in contact with the air stream, at least one suction hole to be coupled with one side of the spool, and a sendout device. CONSTITUTION: A yarn-feed spool 1 is mounted on a supporting table 2. A means 5 to generate an air stream consists of an impeller 11 supported by a shaft 10 driven by a motor 12 which uses a transmission device 13, and a means 6 to put the whole surface 7 of the yarn-feed spool 1 in contact with the air stream is composed of a bobbin support 14 rotating on the table 2 and a driving element 15 to work in coupling with the bobbin support. Installation is made with the dimensions of a suction hole 8 in such a way as positioned on the long shaft side of the spool 1 in the same manner as on the side with impeller 11. A means 9 to approach the suction hole 8 and air stream means 5 to the spool 1 is composed of the mentioned impeller 11, a support using an expansion arm 16 for suction hole 8, an arm 16 using a support 18 rotating round a shaft 17, and a carriage 21.

    • PURPOSE: To provide the subject method comprising specially operating two thread nippers, a cutter, a special mechanism, a driving mechanism and a control unit, respectively, to enable a thread wound off a thread feeder to be automatically cut into pieces of a specified length. CONSTITUTION: This method comprises such a practice that, the free end of a thread 6 wound off a thread feeder 2 is held on a 1st nipper 3 and the vicinity of the free end is then held on a 2nd mobile nipper 4 followed by releasing the thread 6 from the 1st nipper 3; the 2nd nipper 4 is moved to further wind the thread 6 off the feeder 2; the thread 6 lying between the nipper 4 and the feeder 2 is operated by a mechanism 9, essentially a thread guide mechanism for further winding the thread 6 off the feeder, so as to bring the thread 6 lying between the mechanism 9 and the feeder 2 again toward the nipper 3 and a cutter 8 set up behind the nipper 3 with respect to the moving direction of the thread 6; and the thread 6 is then held on the nipper 3 again and cut into pieces of a specified length using the cutter 8.
