摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop photographs of various sizes on a sheet without using roll stocks of various photograph width by providing a method and a device for cutting a large size sheet into prints of various sizes of photographs. SOLUTION: This cutter system for cutting the large size sheet into individual photographic images includes a cutter for cutting a large size sheet into lateral strips including one or more printed images. A transport table arranged for receiving a strip from a cutter includes two sets of drive devices. One of them is to move the strip in a longitudinal direction, and the other one is to move the strip in a lateral direction toward a second cutter, which cuts the strip into individual photographs. The sensors of both cutters, which work in response to the reference marks on the large sheet, cooperate with the drive devices to position the large sheet and the cut strips at their respective proper positions. The density of ink dots in the test image (104) is selected so that each dot just contacts adjacent dots while avoiding significant overlap. A defective nozzle can produce misplaced or undersized dots, creating abnormal spacing between adjacent dots. At the selected ink dot density, the abnormal spacing is most perceptible to the eye.

摘要： A buffer for transporting a flexible work piece such as a printed sheet between a first and a second workstation having different operational speeds. The buffer has drive rollers (26) arranged along a path of travel from the outlet of the first station to the inlet of the second for moving the work piece through the buffer at a constant speed that may be different than the operational speeds of the workstations. A slip clutch limits the torque applied by the drive rollers should the constant speed of the buffer be greater than the speed at which the sheet is moving through the first work station and a one-way clutch (34) allows the drive rollers to overrun a drive shaft (32) to permit the sheet to move into and out of the buffer at a speed greater than the constant speed.

摘要： Disclosed is a buffer (10) disposed to receive cut sheets from a first workstation (12) operating at a first slower speed, deskew the sheets and deliver them to a second workstation (14) operating at a second faster speed. The buffer has a guide (24) defining a path of travel extending from driven inlet rollers (18) at a buffer inlet to driven exit rollers (22) adjacent a buffer exit. The guide includes a trap that opens to accommodate a service loop (5) formed of the cut sheet that is longer than the path of travel. The inlet rollers are driven at the first slower speed to move cut sheets into the buffer and up to the exit rollers and the exit rollers are selectively driven at the second faster speed to deliver cut sheets to the second workstation. The exit rollers are located at an elevation above the inlet rollers and this orientation together with the opening of the trap provides for a vertical separation between the trailing edge of a first cut sheet and the leading edge of a second cut sheet to insure there is non contact spacing between the sheets moving through the buffer.

摘要： Disclosed is an embosser for producing matte finish photographs from a glossy finish photograph. The embosser receives a sheet of glossy prints as generated by an inkjet printer with a clear laminate over the print to protect the inkjet generated photographic image. Pressure and embossing rollers biased to spaced apart positions within the embosser are selectively operable to move one against the other to create a nip through which the laminated print passes. At the option of an operator the laminated print may be allowed to pass between the spaced apart rollers undisturbed thereby generating a glossy photograph. At the option of the operator the rollers are moved one against the other to create the nip so that passage of the print now results in an embossment of the lamination thereby producing a matte finish photograph. Also disclosed is a method for alternatively generating a glossy or matte finish print and a matte finished print wherein the matte finish is formed in situ .
