The apparatus has a feed tray having an outlet positioned above a moving supply of fibrous material. A motor is coupled to the feed tray for vibrating the feed tray. When the motor vibrates the feed tray particulate matter in the feed tray is deposited onto the supply of fibrous material, and when the motor does not vibrate the feed tray substantially no particulate matter in the feed tray is deposited onto the supply of fibrous material. The feed tray may have a gate spaced above the pan, behind which particulate matter is held when the motor is not vibrating.

The acquisition layer lies between the topsheet and the storage layer, and includes at least two yarns (28) oriented generally parallel with the longitudinal axis of the article, with an acquisition channel (30) between each adjacent pair of yarns. The acquisition channels provide free volume for temporary fluid storage until the fluids can be absorbed by the storage layer and allow fluids to move to the longitudinal ends of the article. The yarns store fluids until they are absorbed, and wick fluids away from the topsheet to keep the user dry. Each yarn may have properties specifically tailored to provide particular benefits depending on each yarn's location in the garment. The absorbent garment using such an acquisition layer is comfortable, highly absorbent, and economical to produce.

摘要： An absorbent garment includes a chassis comprised of a moisture impervious outer layer, a moisture pervious inner layer, and an absorbent layer sandwiched between the inner and outer layers. The garment includes one or more elasticized connector tabs attached to the chassis such that part or all of one waist portion of the garment is expandable. The gripping connectors, attached to the distal ends of the connectors tabs, interlock with a target connector located near the opposite wait edge of the garment. The waist, made expandable by the integrated elastic connectors tabs, conforms to the contours of the user, increasing comfort and improving leak resistance. The connector tabs may be constructed from nonwoven material sandwiching an elastic element or elements.
