A genetic algorithm is executed based on the pattern (101) to be marked on the substrate. A result of the genetic algorithm indicates a resulting path which the industrial printer (110) should follow when marking the pattern (101) on the substrate. It is determined if the resulting path fulfils at least one criterion.
