    • 1,192,826. Loudspeaker enclosures. E. J. MURRY. 4 Aug., 1967 [8 Aug., 1966], No. 36030/67. Heading H4J. A loudspeaker enclosure has a front plate 11, generally triangular and having concave sides 14, and a triangular back plate 12. An apertured dispersion cone-horn 15 extends between the plates 11, 12 for passage of higher frequency sounds. Three solid webs 22 extend from the external wall of the cone-horn 15 between the space between the front and back plates 11, 12 to divide the space into three equal parts. A back opening 19 receives a diaphragm speaker 18, preferably a "woofer" in front of which is a "tweeter" 20. Three tubes 23 provide vents controlling the escape of air from the rear of the enclosure. The cone-horn 15 is preferably hollow and exponential but may instead have a plurality of holes (25), Fig. 5 (not shown). In use, the enclosure is in the upper comer of a room, e.g. sealed against the side walls and ceiling by adhesive tape. "Tweeter" sounds pass through the cone-horn 15 into the room. Lower frequency sounds first hit the outer wall of the cone-horn 15 and are reflected by the webs 22 to the ceiling and room side walls. They exit from the enclosure through the spaces formed by the concave walls 14 of the front plate 11 and the room walls and ceiling. The venting of the tubes 23 and thereby the sound quality is selectively controlled by concentric plugs 24 in such tubes.
