    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for collecting ink in a process of deinking of used paper more efficiently with a high cost-performance; a method for producing pulp and paper having both an excellent brightness and a low effective residual ink concentration, ERIC; a method for improving qualities of the final pulp and paper and yields of pulp and paper in a floating/cleaning combination deinking process and a cleaning deinking process; and an improved method for collecting and removing ink in a low alkaline and/or neutral condition.SOLUTION: The method uses a deinking composition including hydrophobically modified inorganic particles, MIP, in order to improve efficiency of ink collection. The deinking composition includes a hydrophobic MIP substance, a nonionic surfactant, and a fatty acid, or a mixture thereof. The improved ink collection performance can bring about a high quality and/or a high yield deinked pulp having an excellent brightness and an effective residual ink concentration, ERIC, value.
