摘要： This invention is a transurethral radio frequency apparatus (12) for ablation of the prostate gland through the urethra formed by a urethral wall, a probe (14) consisting of a flexible elongate tubular member (10) having proximal and distal extremities and a cylindrical sleeve ablation electrode (76) formed of a conductive material carried by the distal extremity of the flexible elongate tubular member (10) and having a bore therein. The flexible elongate tubular member (10) is provided with a first flow lumen (41) for delivering a cooled fluid to the bore of the ablation electrode (76) and a second flow lumen (48) for returning the cooled fluid. Means are connected to the probe for supplying a coolant solution (26) to the probe, to suppply radio frequency energy (37) to the electrode (76) while it is being cooled and to monitor the temperature (36) of the ablation electrode (76) so that the ablation electrode (76) is maintained at a temperature below a predetermined temperature.

摘要： Spread spectrum communication system comprising a transmitter for transmitting data in bit form from one location to a remote location. An encoder is provided for encoding the data with a chip sequence at a predetermined clock rate to provide encoded data which is transmitted to the remote location. A receiver is provided at the remote location for receiving the encoded data. The receiver includes a correlator having a shift register for storing a chip sequence on the encoded data in bit form at least three sequential times. A decoder is provided for polling the shift register during the three sequential times of the stored chip sequence in bit form at a clock rate of at least three times that of the clock rate of the chip sequence to ascertain whether a majority of the corresponding chips of the chip sequence stored in the shift register at the at least three sequential times are the same to provide an output. A comparator is provided for comparing the output with the corresponding chip of the transmitted chip sequence to ascertain whether they are the same and with an inverted chip corresponding to the chip of the transmitted chip sequence to ascertain whether they are the same to provide compared data. A summer is provided for summing the compared data to provide summed data, and an adjustable threshold is provided for determining when the summed data constitutes a valid data bit.

摘要： A transurethral radio frequency apparatus for ablation of the prostate gland through the urethra formed by a wall, a probe consisting of a flexible elongate tubular member with proximal and distal extremities and sized so as to be adapted to be inserted into the urethra, and an ablation electrode carried by the distal extremity of the flexible elongate member. The flexible elongate tubular member is provided with first and second flow lumens for delivering a cooled fluid to the ablation electrode to cool the same. Means are connected to the probe to supply a coolant solution to the probe, to supply radio frequency energy to the electrode while it is being cooled, and to monitor the temperature of the ablation electrode so that the ablation electrode is maintained at a temperature below a predetermined temperature to spare the urethral wall from irreversible damage from the radio frequency energy delivered to the ablation electrode.

摘要： An aspiration needle for use with a syringe for fine needle aspiration cytology comprising a rigid elongate tubular member having distal and proximal extremities. The distal extremity is formed to provide a sharp point. The tubular member has a bore extending therethrough from the distal extremity to the proximal extremity. A body is secured to the proximal extremity of the tubular member and forms a chamber therein in communication with the bore of the tubular member. The chamber is formed by a sloping uninterrupted side wall leading to the bore of the tubular member. The body includes a fitting for receiving the syringe and for establishing communication between the syringe and the chamber.

Balloons are disposed on opposite sides of the stenosis in the vessel and form a closed chamber in the vessel. A therapeutic catheter having a distal extremity is disposed in the chamber. Irrigation liquid is supplied to the chamber and liquid is aspirated from the chamber to form an aspirate. The distal extremity of the therapeutic catheter is moved to cause the material forming the stenosis to be removed from the wall of the vessel and to be broken into particles which are removed with the aspirate.
