摘要： A weighing apparatus (10) comprises an imaging device (18) and a pliable platform (19), where the weight (downward force) of an object (30) is calculated based upon a plurality of images captured of the pliable platform. The extent of deformation (32) may be used to determine the weight of the object (30), in particular by comparison with stored reference data of the response of the platform to known weights (either as a look up table, or functional mapping). Thus the platform has known pliability characteristics. In an alternative embodiment, vibrations of the pliable member with the object present may be used to determine the object weight. The imaging device may be a camera or video camera located above or below the platform. The platform may be suspended between two or more walls to allow imaging from below. Weight calculation is carried out by a weight calculating unit (16).

The secondary indicia may be a security mark to prove the item's authenticity. The method may be used with an indicia reader 1 such as a hand-held imaging scanner or fixed-mount imaging scanner.

摘要： A mobile device has one or more sensors that are configured to detect the presence of fog or frost on a surface of the mobile device. An energy transfer element such as a heater, when activated, removes condensation from a surface of the mobile device. A programmed processor reads one or more sensors disposed in the mobile device to determine if there is a fog or frost condition. Upon detecting a fog or frost condition, the heating element is activated to remove fog or frost, and upon detecting an absence of the fog or frost condition, the heater is deactivated. The surface of the mobile device may be a display window or a window covering an imaging optics system. The one or more sensors may comprise a temperature sensor, and a fog or frost condition may be determined when the temperature rises by more than a threshold over a prescribed period of time. The one or more sensors may comprise an optical sensor or an ultrasound sensor. The activation of the energy transfer element may be determined by the state of the battery.

The at least two environments may comprise an outdoor operational environment and an indoor operational environment of the mobile device.
