    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a free piston-type stirling cycle engine which is inexpensive, has a small outer diameter as the whole engine and has high efficiency.
      SOLUTION: The free piston-type stirling cycle refrigerator as a free piston-type stirling cycle engine comprises a cylinder 7, a piston 18 that can be reciprocated within the cylinder 7, and an electromagnetically driving mechanism 19 as an electromagnetic mechanism that reciprocates the piston 18. The electromagnetically driving mechanism 19 comprises a moving part 20 and a stator 35. The moving part 20 comprises a permanent magnet 24 disposed outside an inner yoke 23 formed of a permeable material. The moving part 20 and the piston 18 are disposed in an axial direction, and the stator 35 and the cylinder 7 are disposed in an axial direction, whereby the outer diameter Rm of the moving part 20 in the electromagnetically driving mechanism 19 can be reduced. Thus, the inner diameter Rs and the outer diameter of the stator 35 provided outside the moving part 20 and, in its turn, the outer diameter of the whole stirling cycle refrigerator can be reduced.

      SOLUTION: A reciprocating compressor 21 of a Rankine cycle 2 is integrally formed on a sterling engine 1 operated by a helium gas. A refrigerant liquefied by a separator 27 mounted at an outlet side of a condenser 25 and the helium gas mixed in the refrigerant are separated from each other, and the separated helium gas flows back to the sterling engine 1. Accordingly, the refrigerant is not leaked to the external even when it is leaked from the reciprocating compressor 21 to the internal, and the sterling engine 1 and the Rankine cycle 2 can be respectively operated by the helium gas and the refrigerant each as the optimum working fluid.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casing of a free-piston stirling device being low-cost, lightweight, easy to assemble, and unaffected by deformation under pressure, while keeping airtightness high. SOLUTION: A plurality of tabs 11b are punched and formed at a circumferential surface near an open end of a front casing manufactured by the deep drawing of a metallic plate, with the tip of each tab bent and inclined radially inwards. A cylinder 23 is provided with a stepped portion 23e, a locking circumferential groove 23g, and a seal part 23c on the outer periphery thereof. When the free-piston stirling device 2 is inserted into the front casing 11 and the open end of the front casing abuts the stepped portion 23e, the tips of the tabs 11b fit into the locking circumferential groove 23g to fix the position of the free-piston stirling device along the direction of insertion. The front casing 11, a center casing 12 and a rear casing 13 are hermetically joined together by welding their respective overall peripheries together.

      SOLUTION: An entrance plate 1, a plurality of middle plates 3 and an exit plate 2 respectively having a ring shape are closely contacting with each other and inserted between a cylindrical outer casing 4 and inner casings 5. The entrance plate 1 and the exit plate 2 have openings 1a etc. and openings 2a etc. at equal pitch interval in circumference direction to be aligned to have a half pitch deviation from each other. The middle plate 3 has openings 3a etc. at a half pitch interval of the the entrance plate 1 to be aligned to fit to every second openings 1a etc. of the entrance plate. Working-fluid flowing from the openings 1a, etc. of the entrance plate is blocked by the exit plate 2, and some portion thereof drifts toward the circumference direction on each middle plate 3. The drift toward the circumference direction increase heat-transfer area to raise heat exchange rate. Further, the drift toward the circumference direction flows out straight through the adjacent openings 1b etc., hence inhibiting increase of pressure loss.

SOLUTION: A circumferential groove 23 is provided in the through-hole 22 in the driving piston 2, and the low friction follow-up seal 4 formed by stacking thin-plate disks 41 is incorporated in the circular groove so that, if the concentricity and the parallelism between the rod 11 and the through hole 22 are deviated to some extent, the sealability between the low friction follow-up seal and the outer circumferential surface of the rod 11 can be secured. This constitution can thus mitigate the requirement of the concentricity and the parallelism between the rod 11 and the through-hole 22 to greatly reduce the manufacturing cost while effectively preventing gas leakage.
