摘要： A process for bleaching wood pulp is provided comprising subjecting the wood pulp, after brown stock washing, to an oxygen delignification stage, a washing sequence, a first chlorine dioxide bleaching stage, an oxidative extraction stage, at least one final chlorine dioxide bleaching stage and then recycling the filtrate from the oxidative extraction stage counter-currently through the bleaching plant and brown stock washing. Additionally, and quite beneficially, the filtrate from the first chlorine dioxide bleaching stage is also recycled counter-currently through the brown stock washing thereby significantly reducing the environmental impact associated with the manufacture of bleach wood pulp.

摘要： A control system for use in a valve bag filling apparatus eliminates sifting of product during the filling process. A filling nozzle (10) is inserted into the valve of a bag to be filled. A flow of particulate material is provided through the filling nozzle (10) and into the bag. When the bag is full, the flow of particulate material is terminated. A blast of high pressure air (46) is then introduced into the nozzle (10) in order to clear the nozzle of any residual particulate material therein. A low pressure blast of air (23) is introduced between the nozzle and the filling valve to suspend any particles present in the filling valve after the nozzle has been cleared by the high pressure blast (46). A vacuum is introduced into the nozzle to suck any suspended particles out of the filling valve after the low pressure blast has been introduced. An inflatable boot (14) can be provided on the nozzle (10) to seal the nozzle within the valve of the bag during filling. Control of the system is effected by electro-pneumatic components.

摘要： A lid insert (10) is provided for releasable connection to a plastic lid (14) having a substantially flat top surface and an upwardly and inwardly projecting peripheral bead (15) disposed above and spaced from the top surface of the lid. The lid insert is made of paperboard material having a planar configuration generally corresponding to the configuration of the flat top surface of the lid. The periphery of the planar lid insert includes a plurality of alternating indents (11) and nodes (12). The area defined by the outermost points of the insert is greater than the area defined by the upwardly and inwardly projecting bead. This peripheral configuration of alternating nodes and indents facilitates the initial placement of the insert on the lid and enables the insert to compensate for the different expansion characteristics of the lid and the lid insert.
