    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially flatten coupling ratio characteristics to a wave length by setting a predetermined length equal to a minimum length in which the coupling ratios in two preselected wave lengths become equal to each other in the first place when an optical fiber coupler is formed. SOLUTION: The propagation light of first optical fiber forms a coupling area coupled with second optical fiber, and coupling constants of both optical fibers are set to a preset value, and a difference is arranged in respective propagation constants of both optical fibers in the coupling area, and a length of its coupling area is elongated, and when coupling constants of two preset wave lengths become equal to each other in the first place, a process of elongating a length of its coupling area is stopped. That is, like (b), for example, in the first crossing area marked with (x) of a curve of 3μm and 1.5μm, a coupler has the coupling ratios equal in both wave lengths, and the coupling ratios are selected by selecting a difference in a propagation constant. Elongation is monitored by a wave length of 1.52μm and 1.3μm, and is stopped at a point where coupling factors become equal to each other.

    • PURPOSE: To easily lay optical fibers and to facilitate the addition and maintenance of the optical fibers by forming tubular ductlets in a power cable and housing the optical fibers therein. CONSTITUTION: A pipeline 11 has the ductlets 12 for forming tubular progressing paths along the longitudinal direction and the optical fibers 12 are loosely housed in the ductlets 12. The pipeline 11 has a core 13 at its central part. The pipeline 11 is formed of an extrusion molded material and the ductlets 12 are formed at the time of extrusion molding. To insert the optical fibers 14 into the ductlets 12, the front ends of the optical fibers 14 to be inserted are inserted into the ductlets 12 and the flow of a gaseous medium is formed at the flow velocity higher than a progression speed to progress the optical fibers 14 inserted into the ductlets 12. As a result, the damage of the optical fibers 14 is prevented and even if joints are branched at the pipeline 11, there is no need for providing the optical fibers 14 with the joints.
