摘要： The apparatus transmits in a first zone, for example, an aircraft, a masking signal which masks transmissions from a second zone outside of the first. By doing this a mobile cellular telephone is inhibited from connecting or attempting to connect to base-stations on the ground. A hole in the masking signal spectrum may be provided to enable connection to a base-station within the aircraft. Alternatively, a base-station within the aircraft may be arranged to transmit at a power level greater than the masking signal.

As a vehicle nears geographic location(s) through which traffic is restricted, sensor(s) detect the geographic position of the vehicle, and compare that geographic position with information regarding known restricted areas. Upon actual or anticipated entry of the vehicle into the restricted area, an alert message will be generated, formatted and transmitted to the vehicle, and/or additional recipients.

摘要： Disclosed is a display unit that shows travel-related information to a traveller in a public area. The unit has a communication interface that facilitates the receiving of travel-related information, and a machine-readable marking reader that scans markings on travel documents, eg tickets, and decodes the markings. The markings contain encoded travelled-related information pertaining to the traveller. A display control unit receives the decoded markings, and displays associated travel-related information to the traveller. The information may include arrival time, departure time, gate number, baggage claim and terminal maps. The unit may placed in train stations, airports, bus terminals or car rental offices. The unit may be part of bank of display units controlled by a master unit that accesses a data management unit to determine if new relevant information is available.

摘要： A multimedia aircraft communication system including a portable control and display unit 100, such as a portable handheld pocket PC or PDA, for communicating data, voice and/or video communications to devices both inside and outside the aircraft. The system uses the aircraft's existing communications infrastructure (e.g. SATCOM, GPS, VHF antennas 400, 500, 600) and includes an Aircraft Communication Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS) transceiver 300 for communicating data, voice and video messages, e.g. to other aircraft and ground-based operation centres. The system includes a peripheral device on the aircraft, preferably a camera, whose movement and function can be controlled by the portable control and display unit 100, enabling the selection of images to be transmitted. The control and display unit 100 may communicate with other control and display units 100 and communication may include sensor conditions such as activation of panic button 800, door contacts and fire detection. The system is operable both when the aircraft is in flight and on the ground and, in the event of an emergency, terror attack or hijack, the system enables people both inside and outside the aircraft to be alerted and provided with relevant voice, data and video information. The portable control and display unit 100 may also function as a cell phone and can be provided to cabin crew 40 and Sky Marshals 30.
