    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna having a patch element made up of a conductive material.
      SOLUTION: The antenna for receiving and/or transmitting circularly-polarized RF wave signals has the patch element, a ground plane, a dielectric substance, and a power-feeding line. The patch element is set on a windowpane, and has a set of radiation side portions mutually facing, and a set of spacer side portions facing mutually. The radiation side portions form angles less than 90°, with respect to the spacer side portions. A first axis is determined so as to pass the centers of the radiation side portions, and a second axis is determined so as to pass the centers of the spacer side portions. The ground plane is set substantially in parallel with the patch element, being separated from it. The dielectric material is set between the patch element and the ground plane. The power-feeding line is set substantially in parallel with the first axis being shifted from its position, and circularly-polarized wave radiation characteristics are provided to the antenna. The antenna is small and is substantially equiangular with the windowpane.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antenna utilized to receive an RF signal from a satellite, and more particularly, to provide an antenna capable of providing both circular and linear polarized signals on a single feed line, without significantly obstructing the view of the vehicle driver.
      SOLUTION: An antenna for receiving and transmitting circularly and linearly polarized RF signals includes a circularly polarized radiation element and a linearly polarized radiation element. The radiation elements are disposed on an identical plane and spaced apart from each other on a glass-paned window. The linearly polarized radiation element is fed via a phase-shifted signal line. A ground plane is arranged parallel to the radiation elements so that the dielectric of air is interposed therebetween. The antenna produces the effect of tilting the radiation beam from a higher to a lower elevation angle so as to achieve higher gain at a lower elevation angle.

      SOLUTION: The antenna to receive and/or send the circularly and/or a linearly polarized wave RF signal includes the radiation element, a ground plane, a dielectric substrate, and a feeder. The radiation element is arranged on a glass pane. The radiation element demarcates a slot having a first leg and a second leg to form a cross shape to generate the circularly and/or linearly polarized wave. The cross-shaped slot includes a central point. The ground plane is arranged in parallel with the radiation element and in a space apart from the radiation element. The dielectric substrate is put between the radiation element and the ground plane. The feeder extends in a dielectric layer and is electromagnetically coupled to the radiation element and the ground plane. The feeder terminates at a remote position end in front of the central point of the slot. The feeder does not cross the central point. The antenna has a compact size and is at a positive angle to the glass pane.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector which can be connected to a conductor through a solder layer soldered without containing lead.
      SOLUTION: A window pane has a substrate formed from glass and includes an electrical device. The electrical device includes an electrical conductor and an electrical connector. A layer of solderable metal is bonded to the connector. A layer of solder is bonded to the layer of solderable metal and the conductor, with the connector and the conductor in electrical connection through the layer of solderable metal and the layer of solder. The substrate has a first coefficient of expansion and the connector has a second coefficient of thermal expansion. A difference between the first and second coefficients of thermal expansion is equal to or less than 5×10
      -6 °C for minimizing mechanical stress between the connector and the substrate due to thermal expansion of the connector and the substrate resulting from changes in temperature. The solder is comprised of less than 70 parts by weight of Sn along with a greater than 30 parts by weight of a reaction rate modifier. The reaction rate modifier increases the solderability of the solder to the conductor.
