    • A first current is applied to the joined emitter electrodes of a first and a second transistor to be split into a first and a second fractions related in the ratio hfen to 1, which fractions flow as their respective collector currents. (The common-emitter forward current gain of the first transistor is hfe.) A first and a second paths extend from a common connection to respective base electrodes of the first and second transistors. Each path includes n junction diode(s) connected in series with the baseemitter junction of the transistor to which the path connects. A second current related to the first is applied to the second path to apply additional forward bias to the n diode(s) therein.

    • A receptacle adapted for insertion within electrical windings to secure a sensing element includes a sheet-like flexible material adapted to be centrally folded for providing first and second laterally extending portions. The first portion includes a tab having a pair of spaced openings each adapted to receive the sensing element and includes an outer portion adapted to be folded upon an intermediate portion while the intermediate portion is adapted to be folded and positioned opposite to the second portion with the outer portion positioned opposite to an inner portion so that the pair of spaced openings are aligned to receive the sensing element. The second portion includes a tab which secures the receptable positioned sensing element through the envelopment of a sensing element male terminal by one of a plurality of tab openings with the envelopment further secured through the connection of an external electrical lead having a female terminal to the sensing element male terminal. An alternative embodiment provides a latching tab which extends from the first portion and passes through one of the spaced openings and provides an outer laterally offset extension having an opening for receiving and securing the outer end of the sensing element.

    • The invention relates to a water heating system in which a single water heater is utilized in combination with a storage tank and pump to provide hot water for various uses. The invention is particularly directed to the use of a thermostatic mixing valve set at a predetermined temperature and located at a juncture between a recirculating conduit from the water heater and the conduit for the flow of water from the storage tank or a source of fresh water supply to the water heater so that water which has already been heated by the water heater may be mixed with the colder water supplied to the water heater to be heated.

    • A monitoring system has a small signal amplifier to amplify the low millivolt signals of a remotely located flowmeter. A pair of transistors are mutually parallel connected in emitter follower configuration by a variable bias potentiometer to the meter through three terminals. Each transistor supplies an input to an analog comparator with resistive and capacitive feedback to provide common mode rejection with a single-ended output signal. An isolating transistor in common collector configuration is connected to the output of the analog comparator for impedance transformation. The transistors are selectively connected to receive either a pair of balanced incoming signals or an unbalanced signal. A reference signal is applied as an input to one of the parallel connected transistors in unbalanced operation.

    • The present disclosure relates to tiedown means. A stack of vehicle frames are mounted on a bed. A box beam is disposed over the frames or integrated into the bed. A pair of parallel torsion shafts having a high spring rate are mounted in the box beam. The first shaft is fixed at one end to the beam end wall and protrudes from the opposite wall. A crank is secured to the free end of the first bar and disposed between a pair of stop elements on the end wall. The shaft is prestressed to engage the one stop with a selected stored energy with the holding rotation of the arm increasing the stress. The second shaft is similarly constructed, but oppositely disposed to dispose the crank to the opposite end of the assembly. Suitable straps or chains are interconnected to the cranks to clamp the load to the bed. A one-way locking means selectively limits the movement of the crank to prevent pivoting and increasing the shaft stress after the initial setting.
