    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing and drying machine including a heat pump and allowing a more reliable determination of completion of drying.SOLUTION: A washing and drying machine is provided that includes a drum 4 containing clothing; an air circulation mechanism 16 causing circulation of air in the drum 4 to flow through an air duct 17 back into the drum 4 during a drying process; a heat pump 22 having an evaporator 23 and a condenser 24 disposed within the air duct 17; temperature sensors 34 and 35 detecting an inlet-air temperature of inlet air supplied into the drum 4 and an outlet-air temperature of outlet air discharged from the drum 4, respectively; and a control device 36 monitoring the temperature difference between the inlet-air temperature and the outlet-air temperature to detect the maximum temperature difference and determining completion of drying based on the decreasing degree of the temperature difference. The control device 36 detects the maximum temperature difference between the inlet-air temperature and the outlet-air temperature after a lapse of a predetermined time period from the start of the operation of a compressor 27.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and low-cost washing and drying machine which has the function of blowing warm air.
      SOLUTION: An air blower 26 for circulation, an evaporator 35 and a condenser 36 are arranged in a ventilation path 31 of the washing and drying machine 1 for drying clothes in a rotation drum 4 by blowing dried and heated air into the rotation drum 4. An external air inlet 41 is formed in a ventilation duct 22 constituting the ventilation path 31 and a PTC heater 42 is attached to the external air inlet 41. Air sucked from the external air inlet 41 by an air blower 47 for discharge is heated by the PTC heater 42 and then is released to the outside of the washing and drying machine 1 through a blowout opening 48. A control device brings the temperature of the external air close to the temperature set by an operation input section and makes the temperature of the blowout opening 48 lower than a predetermined temperature according to the temperature of the external air and the temperature of the blowout opening 48. The control device adjusts the temperature of air blown by the blower 47 for discharge to preferentially set the temperature of the blowout opening 48 to be lower than the predetermined temperature prior to the approximation of the temperature of the external air to the set temperature.
