applying a torque to the capstan (10) in a backward direction for a first predetermined period of time ;
applying a torque to the capstan (10) in the forward direction for a second predetermined period of time ;
nullifying the motor current.

This is particularly convenient for slow-motion and still-picture reproduction modes.

摘要： The present invention is related to head switching control apparatus for use in a magnetic tape recorder. Based on the technology, which is widely used for head switching control in analogue tape recorders and in particular in VHS video cassette recorders the present invention suggest a head switching control apparatus allowing a higher precision as it is required for digital tapes. The invention is applicable e.g. for tapes which are recorded according to the D-VHS standard.
According to the invention the higher precision is achieved by adjusting the head switching pulse relative to the beginning of a certain data section of the digital data. In particular, the inventive apparatus comprises a digital data processing circuit for discriminating the beginning of said data section. A timer is started by the head-switching signal and stopped by the beginning of the data section to determine the time duration a head-switching signal precedes the beginning of the data section. The determined time duration is then used to calculate a second delay time. The second delay time allows achieving the required head switching precision for digital tapes.

摘要： The method for copying data from a tape onto a storage medium comprises the steps of scanning the tape in a fast winding operation (B), counting control pulses present on the tape during the fast winding operation in a counter, defining a compression rate in dependency of the number of control pulses and the capacity of the optical medium (C, D, E), reading the data from the tape and writing the data onto the storage medium by using said compression rate (G). The appliance comprises a media recorder a tape recorder and a micro-controller for performing the method. The appliance allows in particular, copying in an automated procedure all information being recorded on the tape onto the storage medium via a one touch copy operation, by making optimum use of the capacity of the storage medium.
