    • A vehicle seat comprises a headrest mounted on the seatback frame so as to be movable in a front-and-back direction, a cushion plate mounted on the seatback frame, and a collision detector provided at back side of cushion plate. The headrest is connected to the collision detector by way of a active headrest mechanism. When the collision detector is moved backward, the headrest is moved forward. A space part is formed between an upper edge of the cushion plate and an upper frame of the seatback frame. The space part is enlarged by forming the upper frame by a pipe frame.

    • The vehicle seat includes a collision sensor provided to a seat back frame and being movable relatively backward by a rear-end collision, a headrest attached to the seat back frame and being movable between a normal support position and a head protection position anterior to the normal support position. The headrest is movable from the normal support position to the head protection position when the collision sensor is moved backward. The vehicle seat has a lock mechanism attached to the seat back frame. The lock mechanism is moved to a lock position by inertia when receiving an external force by a rear-end collision to regulate a return of the headrest from the head protection position to the normal support position.

    • An automobile seat having a seatback formed by assembling a metal seatback frame of a substantially rectangular frame shape to a base frame, where the seatback frame is composed of left and right side frame sections (10a, 10b), an upper frame section (11) placed between upper sections of the side frame sections (10a, 10b), and a lower frame section (12) placed between lower sections of the side frame sections (10a, 10b). The lower frame section (12) is formed by bending a metal sheet material and is fitted, at its left and right side bracket sections (12a, 12b), between lower back sections of the side frame sections (10a, 10b), the left and right side bracket sections (12a, 12b) being attached and fixed to lower edges of the side frame sections (10a, 10b). The plate surface of the lower frame section (12) is curved in a semicircular arc shape that swells out forward by a predetermined dimension within the inner width of the plate surface. A narrowed section (13) for absorbing impact caused by bending deformation of the seatback frame (1) is provided at the seatback, and the narrowed section (13) is linear in the longitudinal direction and is placed to reach a rear edge of each of the side bracket sections (12a, 12b).
