    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a glass substrate for a magnetic disk by which the strength of the glass substrate is enhanced, the number of defects after final polish is reduced and the machining allowance of polish can be reduced, and to provide the glass substrate for the magnetic disk whose strength is enhanced by ≥200% by heating using the manufacturing method of the glass substrate for the magnetic disk. SOLUTION: In a polishing step of the glass substrate for the magnetic disk, lapping is performed and the glass substrate is heated at 450 to 650°C for 10 to 60 min to increase circular ring strength and then final polish is performed to obtain the glass substrate for the magnetic disk.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass substrate for a magnetic disk wherein an outer peripheral part of the glass disk is not damaged even when impact of a drop etc. is loaded, to provide a reinforcement method of the glass substrate for the magnetic disk and to provide a hard disk drive using them.
      SOLUTION: A reinforcement treatment part is provided at lower and upper surfaces having prescribed widths from outer peripheral end parts and outer peripheral end surface on the periphery of the outer peripheral end part of the glass substrate for the magnetic disk near to an outer peripheral part of the magnetic disk where a head for reading and writing in the hard disk drive by using the reinforcement treatment method. In the reinforcing treatment method, a glass surface or a glass inner part is irradiated with a super short pulse laser beam so that the laser beam is condensed therein to form a heterogeneous phase. The hard disk drive is formed by using the glass substrate for the magnetic disk.
