摘要： Disclosed is a method of producing an elliptic core optical fiber, in which a original preform having a circular core disposed at the center of a circular clad is processed to flatten on its periphery to form a processed preform that is then drawn with heating into an elliptic core optical fiber.According to the invention, the form of the processed preform used for producing an elliptic core optical fiber with desired specific dimensions can be designed using pre-obtained correlations based on the dimensions of the elliptic core optical fiber. If the processed preform designed like this is drawn with heating, an elliptic core optical fiber with desired specific dimensions can be reliably and easily produced.

The supply device supplies a scavenging gas, which is for scavenging the fuel cell, to the anode and the cathode. The humidifier humidifies the scavenging gas. The control device controls the supply device when the fuel cell is turned off so that supply of the fuel gas to the anode is shut off and the scavenging gas is supplied to the anode and the cathode, wherein supply of the scavenging gas to the cathode is conducted through the humidifier.

Then, a scale factor included in the frame is extracted and an evaluation function is calculated based on the scale factor. If the value of the evaluation function is larger than a prescribed threshold value, the speed of the frame is converted. If the value of the evaluation function is smaller than the prescribed threshold value, the frame is judged to be a frame in a silent section and neglected. The speed conversion is made by thinning out frames or repeating the same frame as many times as required according to prescribed rules.

The fuel cell comprises a cell structure in which an anode and a cathode are provided on either side of a solid polymer electrolyte membrane. The fuel cell may include a pair of separators between which the cell structure is placed, and a reaction gas passage may be formed between the cell structure and each separator. One of a system for supplying a reaction gas to only a part of the reaction gas passage, and a system for supplying a reaction gas to the entire reaction gas passage is switchably selected.
