The folding device has a placement member (31), a rotation mechanism (33), and plate-like members (32). The placement member (31) is a plate-like member, on a first surface of which an object to be folded is placed such that a portion of the object hangs from the surface. The rotation mechanism (33) rotates the first surface of the placement member (31) about an axis included in the first surface. The plate-like members (32) can position the portion of the object to a place near the placement member (31) by rotation of the placement member (31) caused by the rotation mechanism (33), and then the plate-like members (32) moves the portion of the object to the placement member (31) side while holding the portion.

A folding system (100) for a fabric product according to the present invention includes an information obtaining device (332), a folding device (400) and a width controlling device (900). The folding device includes a platen member (501), a width adjusting mechanism (530) and a folding mechanism (500). The platen member is a member for being put the fabric product thereon. The width adjusting mechanism adjusts the width directional length of the platen member. The folding mechanism folds the fabric product on the platen member. The width controlling device controls the width adjusting mechanism by using the first information obtained by the information obtaining device.
