摘要： An on-board fuel separation system includes a supply fuel tank configured to store an input fuel stream; a fuel separator fluidly coupled to the supply fuel tank and configured to separate the input fuel stream into a first fractional fuel stream and a second fractional fuel stream. The fuel separator includes a membrane that includes a plurality of pores sized based on a molecular size of one or more components of the first fractional fuel stream. The system includes a first fractional fuel tank fluidly coupled to the fuel separator to receive the first fractional fuel stream passed through the membrane and defined by a first auto-ignition characteristic value. The system includes a second fractional fuel stream coupled to the fuel separator to receive the second fractional fuel stream from the fuel separator that is defined by a second auto-ignition characteristic value that is different than the first auto-ignition characteristic value.

摘要： Embodiments of a system for on-site conversion of carbon dioxide from vehicle exhaust to liquid fuels and fuel additives comprise a carbon dioxide collection system, an external power source, an electrolyzer, and a carbon dioxide conversion system. The carbon dioxide collection system interfaces with a mobile carbon dioxide capture system onboard a vehicle to transfer CO 2 captured from vehicle exhaust to a vessel in the carbon dioxide collection system. The external power source provides the energy required for operation of the carbon dioxide conversion system and the electrolyzer. The electrolyzer separates a water feed into hydrogen and oxygen to generate a hydrogen feed and an oxygen feed. The carbon dioxide conversion system converts the CO 2 collected from the exhaust of the vehicles and delivered to the carbon dioxide collection system and the hydrogen feed from the electrolyzer into useful liquid fuels and fuel additives through electrochemical reduction.

摘要： An operational control system (1) for an internal combustion engine, an internal combustion engine (40), a vehicle (10) and a method of onboard generation of hydrogen in a vehicle (10) being powered by an internal combustion engine (40). The operational control system (1) includes a source of electric current (2), a gas generator (3) with a supply of hydrogen precursor material, an SCR (5) device and a fuel octane boosting device. The gas generator (3) is configured to convert the contained precursor material into an H2 gas by operation of solar energy, electrical energy or both being delivered by the source. The SCR (5) device is fluidly cooperative with the gas generator (3) such that a catalyst-activated fluid-permeable medium disposed in an exhaust gas flowpath defined by the SCR (5) device accepts the passage of the exhaust gas through it and at least intermittently receives the H2 gas from the gas generator (3) to perform catalytic reduction of NOx. Likewise, the fuel octane boosting device defines an H2 gas conduit that is structured to deliver H2 from the gas generator (3) can be at least intermittently introduced to the internal combustion engine as a way to provide an enhanced energy content to diesel, gasoline or related fuel being combusted therein.
