摘要： A spout (30) for a container (22) is provided with depending wings (34) extending down from a bottom edge of the spout (30). The depending wings (34) terminate in a point (50) for piercing a container (22). The depending wings (34) permit the spout (30) to pivot ninety degrees from the container (22) to extend from a container (22) at a ninety degree angle therefrom. The spout has side walls with upper edges having arcs of ninety degrees. The spout (30) is inserted into a container (22) with a ram (62) which drives the spout (30) against a ramp (70) to rock the depending wings (34) upward with respect to the bottom edge of the spout (30). Thereafter, the ram (62) drives the points (50) into the container (22) and the upper edges (36) of the side walls (34) of the spout (30) contact the container (22) and cam the spout (30) back to a horizontal position to insert the ninety degree pouring spout (30) with the depending wings (34) into a container (22).

摘要： A method and apparatus is provided for forming a cap with a pouring spout for a container. A continuous web (112) is fed to a spout inserting apparatus (300) which inserts a spout (312) directly into the continuous web. The continuous web may thereafter proceed to a label applicator (500) which applies a label (510) to the continuous web over the spout. Thereafter, the continuous web is moved past a dye and press (700) wherein the cap is punched out of the continuous web and the edge is folded to form a cap (710). Thereafter, the caps are collected, oriented and directed to a point for subsequent use (900).
