    • This shoe fastening device particularly for conventional shoes such as sneakers and similar footwear comprises a pair of track members each longitudinally secured to a flap of an associated shoe, and a pair of corresponding slidable members each located within a respective track member and laterally set apart at a predetermined distance. Since the fastening of most conventional shoes is effected by laterally directing together their parallel and opposing flaps, the present invention achieves this by laterally and fixedly setting apart the slidable members at a distance less than that between said track members when track members are secured to their respective flaps and when shoe is in a normal unfastened state, and subsequently slidably positioning them within their respective tracks, and directing them along a path parallel to the longitudinal median of shoe. As a consequence the track members experience lateral forces directing them towards each other. The slidable members are laterally and fixedly set apart by securing a top surface of each to the undersurface of a bridge member so that they are parallel to each other and laterally set apart from each other. Slidable members are secured to bridge member via interlocking grooves and protuberances located on the top surface of each, and which interlockingly engage corresponding grooves and protuberances located on the undersurface of bridge member. A pawl means is pivotally secured to the bridge member and prevents movement of bridge member and any adjuncts in a direction towards front of associated shoe when pawl means is at the limit of its downward rotation, but allows movement both towards front and back of shoe when it is upwardly rotated.

    • This shoe fastening device particularly for conventional shoes such as sneakers and similar footwear comprises a actuating lever (2) rotatably secured to one flap (26) of an associated shoe (14). Since the fastening of most conventional shoes is effected by laterally directing together their parallel and opposing flaps, the tensioning effected by lever is directed laterally across shoe and is perpendicular to the length of the flaps. This is achieved by orientating the axis of rotation of the lever so that it is parallel with longitudinal median of shoe. Pivotally secured to the actuating lever is an tie element (4) whose axis of rotation is parallel to that of said lever, and where tie element acts as an extension of the lever. An adjunct hook element (12) is attached to tie element. Secured to the opposing flap (27) of shoe is a catch element (6) whose function it is to engage with the adjunct hook element. Upon rotation of actuating lever towards opposing flap, the tie element translates laterally towards and beyond same. Upon rotation of actuating lever away from opposing flap, the tie element translates laterally away from same causing coupling between adjunct hook element and catch element, and the consequent engagement of both upon continuing rotation and tensioning of the lever. To avoid the inadvertent release of tensioning, attached to the lever is a structure (8) which engages a complimentary corresponding structure (10), where complimentary corresponding structure is fixed relative to the lever. Disengagement of structures requires small applied force.

    • A rotary mill is configured to cut fibrous insulation material into tufts of loosefil insulation. A housing of the mill has a rotary cutter assembly mounted therein having a plurality of radially outwardly extending vanes extending to the housing and being configured to sweep along the housing in a machine direction. A screen having a plurality of screen openings is positioned in the housing, each screen opening having an effective opening size. The screen comprises an inner plate having a plurality of inner openings formed therethrough and an outer plate having a plurality of outer openings formed therethrough. The inner openings correspond with the outer openings to define the screen openings, and the screen openings have an effective cutting edge oriented transversely to the machine direction. The inner and outer plates are mounted for movement relative to each other so the effective opening size of the screen openings can be changed. The length of the effective cutting edges of the screen openings are kept substantially constant regardless of any change in the size of the screen openings.

    • A means to secure a device or parts thereof to the flaps of an associated shoe is flexible, and comprises a plurality of flap attachments which can be fixedly or detachably secured to the flap(s) of a shoe. Each flap attachment is attached directly or via intermediate attachments to an elongate member which is securable to the device. Each intermediate attachment has two ends, one secured to the flap attachment and the other to the elongate member. The elongate member can be longitudinally extendable and retractable and can be made up of shorter segments connected to each other. The flap attachments are pivotably secured to one another in a linear sequence where at least one segment is attached directly or indirectly to the device. One type of flap attachment is permanently secured to the shoe by methods like adhesive bonding and fasteners. Another is detachable from the shoe and consists of three versions. The first version has a peg-like structure placed through an eyelet of the flap and confines a portion of the flap between surfaces. The second version consists of a small elongate member, with two ends, inserted in a loop, where the loop itself is secured to the flap. Each end is securable to a support completing a closed circuit confining loop. The third version has the terminal end of a peg-like structure pinning a portion of a flap against one surface when the peg-like structure engages an opening in a proximal surface.
