    • A device is disclosed for the detection of the angular position of a rotary member presenting at its periphery angle marks (11), respectively teeth, at least one angle mark and/or one interval between two angle marks being distinct in order to form a reference mark (12). This may be achieved for example by providing a larger or narrower angle mark, respectively a gap, between two angle marks. The distance between two edges of angle marks is determined by a counter (17) counting the clock pulses in a continuous free-running mode. For each angle mark edge to be evaluated (leading edge or trailing edge) the instant state of the counter is transmitted to a memory (18). To recognize a reference mark, consecutive stored values are subtracted and comparisons between the corresponding consecutive differences are made. If a difference value deviates from the preceding difference value and from the following difference value by a given amount, a reference mark signal is generated.

    • Fuel injection process for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine. Depending on reference signals which are synchronized with the crankshaft, opening signals are produced for the respective injection valves of each cylinder, all of the injection cylinders being first operated together after activation of the ignition, whereby the opening signals for sequential fuel injection are produced after recognition of synchronization. The problem to be solved is that of being able, after starting of the engine or incorrect operation of the synchronization, to change rapidly to sequential fuel injection, whereby the quantity of fuel injected into the open intake valves should be reduced to minimum. For this purpose it is proposed that in a phase (a) up to recognition of synchronization, at least in the event of a repeated ignition, the signals are sent, in particular simultaneously, to the injection valves. Furthermore in a phase (b), after recognition of synchronization, the opening signals are fed simultaneously to the injection valves for the cylinders which have not yet changed to the sequential-operation mode.
