    • The invention relates to a device for discharging and granulating plastic monofilaments (5) coming out vertically in fusion through discharge nozzles (2), and which, after a short fall, are supplied, while still in fusion, to a granulator located downstream. Said cutting plate is formed on the side of the knife device (10) by the flat through-cutting surface (11) and extends over the whole set of discharge nozzles (2), and the distance between the cutting surface (11) and the discharge nozzles (2) is so small that the knife device (10) touches the monofilaments (5) while they are still in fusion.

    • A process is disclosed for producing polyolefine fibres, in particular thermobondable fibres to be processed into nonwoven fabrics. The polyolefines are melted in at least one extruder, the molten polyolefines are pressed through spinning nozzles so as to produce fibres and the fibres are further processed in a manner known per se. The process is characterised in that part of the polyolefines is melted in a main extruder and another part of the polyolefines is melted in at least one side stream extruder and chemically or thermally processed in an appropriate manner to produce a higher proportion of short-chain polyolefines that is added to the polyolefines melted in the main extruder. Also disclosed is a device for carrying out the process.
