    • A method is described for defining service metadata for multiple RF channel services with no impact to the currently defined service metadata for single tuner receiving devices. One example may include receiving first service layer metadata from a first communication channel and second service layer metadata from a second communication channel; and determining a plurality of services available from the first and second communication channels based on the first and second service layer metadata, wherein at least one of the plurality of services is a multiple channel service that comprises data in a pooled set of the first and second communication channels, wherein the multiple channel service is identified by matching a first service from the first service layer metadata and a second service from the second service layer metadata to identify the at least one of the plurality of service in the pooled set.

    • Methods and apparatus for providing computational load allocation in a network environment. In an aspect, a method is provided that includes obtaining an announcement associated with at least one of foreground and background services, allocating available resources to process selected foreground services, and calculating remaining resources based on the announcement. The method also includes determining whether the remaining resources are enough to process at least one background service, and allocating the remaining resources to process the at least one background service if it is determined that the remaining resources are enough. An apparatus is also provided that includes a receiver configured to obtain an announcement associated with at least one of foreground and background services. The apparatus also includes allocation logic to allocate available resources, calculate remaining resources, determine whether the remaining resources are enough to process background services, and allocate the remaining resources to process background services.

    • Methods for delivering application content signaling information may include a generating a metadata fragment for application content items of an application to be acquired by a receiver device, adding to the metadata fragment a first set of attributes indicating that rendering of a linear service or a group of linear services is performed by a media player embedded in the application, and transmitting the metadata fragment to the receiver device. The first set of attributes may include an application launch page or launch file indicator for the application, and/or an indication of required capabilities for rendering the application and associated application content items. The first set of attributes may include a start time and an end time for at least one distribution window for the application, and the at least one distribution window may be associated with information about auxiliary application content delivered during the at least one distribution window.
