    • PURPOSE:To provide a method for efficiently refining krypton and xenon continuously in a high purity by a simple apparatus structure. CONSTITUTION:A method for refining xenon and krypton comprises a concentrating step of concentrating the xenon and krypton by introducing liquefied oxygen containing the krypton and the xenon to a concentrating tower 3, a catalytic refining step by using a catalytic reaction cylinder 15 of copper and chromium composite catalyst to react hydrocarbons with oxygen to be removed after bottom liquid of the tower is vaporized and an adsorber 18 for removing carbon dioxide and water of a reactive product, and a catalytic refined gas-circulating step for branching the gas after discharging from the adsorber, introducing the gas in one branch to the bottom of the tower, and diluting the hydrocarbons in the bottom liquid. Thus, the method further comprises a control step of an input of gas containing the krypton and the xenon after the catalytic reaction step for reintroducing it to a lower part of the tower, a step of removing the oxygen by again liquefying the other, introducing and refining it by a deoxygenating tower 23, and a step of separating the xenon and the krypton by refining the bottom liquid of the deoxygenating tower by a separating tower 28.

    • PURPOSE:To effectually separate krypton and xenon by eliminating a catalyst adsorption process next to a deoxygenation process of taking out and removing oxygen gas from a tower top where water and carbon dioxide produced in a catalyst reaction process are introduced after gas after adsorption and removal is cooled. CONSTITUTION:Liquefied oxygen including krypton and xenon taken out from an air liquefaction/separation apparatus is introduced into a concentration tower 2 to obtain a tower bottom solution yielded by concentrating the krypton and xenon. The tower bottom solution is vaporized and is introduced into a catalyst reaction cylinder 17 to bring involved hydrocarbons and oxygen to a reaction (catalyst reaction process), and gas discharged from the reaction cylinder 17 is introduced into an adsorber 19 to adsorb and remove water and carbon dioxide produced in the catalyst reaction (adsorption tower process). The gas after adsorption processing is again cooled and is introduced into a deoxygenation tower 22 having a theoretical stage number of 5 or more where it is refined with a gas/liquid ratio L/V of a concentration part being 0.1 or more and oxygen gas is taken out and removed from a tower top (deoxygenation process), and further a tower bottom solution is introduced into a separation tower 27 to separate xenon are krypton.
