摘要： A method is provided for operating a wireless interface between a wearable computing hub and one or more peripheral devices. The computing hub provides all primary computer processing and connectivity functions while the peripheral is a thin client device that functions primarily as an input/output device. The method of the invention establishes the wireless interface while (i) supporting different types of peripheral devices, (ii) minimizing computational requirements for the interface at both the computing hub and at each peripheral, (iii) minimizing power consumption of the interface at both the computing hub and the peripheral, and (iv) adapting to any noise or interference in the wireless link between the computing hub and the peripheral.

A wearable electronic hub device retains the most important, expensive, and personal aspects of computing, whereas electronic satellite devices, including dummy screen devices of various sizes, can be shared, lost, stolen, and/or replaced without the same security risks and expenses associated with the duplicative hardware components and personal information retained in current smartphones, tablet computers, laptop computers, etc. Accordingly, a new hardware ecosystem is disclosed that replaces the current paradigm of multiple and separate computing devices by altogether bypassing the tradeoff between portability and screen size and allowing objects everywhere to become smart by first becoming "dumb."

Some embodiments described herein include an apparatus that has a line of sensors installed on the side of a wearable device (e.g., in the shape similar to a wrist band, a wrist watch, etc.), such that the user can touch and glide on the line of sensors to make a selection of displayed items on the display screen of the wearable device. In this way, the user can more accurately position his/her fingers to select an item when the touch screen of the wearable device has a limited touch area.
