摘要： A narrow gap arc welding process is disclosed which comprises steps of defining a narrow gap between a pair of members to be welded arranged so as to face each other at a predetermined distance, feeding a consumable electrode into a guide cylinder which is movable along the narrow gap, and generating electric arc between the tip of the consumable electrode and the members to be welded to unite them with each other, wherein the consumable electrode, while being deformed plastically to have a wave-like pattern with a pitch of about 10 to 30 mm and a molding width of about 2 to 5 mm depending on welding conditions, is fed into the narrow gap with the direction of the molding width being in line with the direction of the width of the narrow gap and the direction of the tip of the consumable electrode being changed so as to point out one after the other facing edge of the members to be welded alternately at a high frequency. Also, an apparatus for practicing the process is described.

摘要： In a narrow gap arc welding process, a consumable electrode 16 fed into and along a narrow gap 2 between a pair of members 1 to be welded is deformed plastically to have a wave-like shape with a pitch of about 10 to 30 mm and a width of about 2 to 5 mm depending on welding conditions, and is fed into the gap with its wave extending across the width of the gap, so that the tip of the consumable electrode as it is fed and consumed points to the respective members to be welded alternately at a high frequency. The electrode is fed and deformed by passing between meshing gear wheels 17a, b with triangular teeth.

摘要： PURPOSE:To easily provide with a test bead aver the entire length, in longitudinal direction, of a specified bevel by doing test weld while supplying the weld part of bevel, from outside of a test piece that is on the extension line of weld line, with a weld rod straight. CONSTITUTION:At the center of a U-shape test piece 1, a U-piece bevel 2 is farmed, and, an either end side of it in longitudinal direction, a round hole part 3 is provided. At the center on the left side of the test piece 1, bore parts 4 that make the outside of the test piece 1 communicate with the bevel 2 straight are provided in the longitudinal direction, each orthogonal to the direction. Firstly, the test piece 1 is heated to a specified temperature, and a weld rod 102 is inserted from the outside of the test piece 1, or the left side of the bore part 4, into the inside of the bevel 2, so that the tip of it reaches the right end side of the bevel 2. Then the tips of an electrode 103 and the weld rod 102 are moved collectively at a specified speed to the left end side, for constantly generating a test bead 101. The test piece 1 is left alone far a specified period, and the cracks occurring at the bevel 2 and the bead 101 are confirmed, for calculation of crack rate.
