    • The lever (13) on the one hand co-operates with a rotatable element (12) and on the other is coupled with an alternating actuator (14), whereby the lever consists of a housing (15) penetrated by said rotatable element (12), of a piston-shaped spring washer (16) and of a return spring (19) tensioned between the housing (15) and spring washer (16). The spring washer (16) and rotatable element (12) form in the mutually co-operating region a torque-limiting entrainment device. The hollow space (25) under the spring washer (16) can be subjected to oil pressure via holes (21, 22) in the rotatable element (12) which are controllably linked with a source of pressure (24). The oil pressure moves the spring washer (16) so that the entrainment device is released. Irrespective of the position of the rotatable element (12) the lever (13) is then set by the spring (27) of the alternating element in an end position which corresponds to the zero delivery position of the fuel injection pump (11).

    • Shroud for covering the space between cylinder rows of a V-shaped internal combustion engine (1) for enclosing in a gas-tight manner the pressure tube (5) arranged in the area between the rows of cylinders as well as the exhaust gas pipes (6) conveying the combustion gases from the cylinders (4) to the pressure tube (5). Said shroud comprises surfaces for sealing off the crankcase (7) as well as the cylinder heads (10). Because of unavoidable process tolerances and the resulting positional tolerances, as well as high heat distortions of the internal combustion engine (1) during operation, and because high-temperature resistant gaskets with low expansion coefficients have to be used, it is difficult to seal off the space in a gas-tight manner with a one-piece hood which carries all of the sealing surfaces. The shroud according to the present invention is therefore provided with a central shroud part (2) which is secured to the crankcase (7) and has contact surfaces only with said crankcase (7) and not with the cylinder heads (10). Further, wedge-shaped shroud parts (3), preferably designed as elbows, are arranged in a V-shaped cutout between the central shroud part (2) and the cylinder heads (10) and are drawn into the V-shaped cutout by extension screws. They have common sealing surfaces with the cylinder heads (10) and with the central shroud part (2). The positional tolerances are compensated by the wedge-shaped shroud parts (3) being positioned in a corresponding position. Accordingly, the forces required to press together the sealing surfaces depend only on the expected heat distortion. Likewise, the forces induced in the engine structure are accordingly low.

    • A thin-walled pipe (11) is fastened inside the liquid-cooled envelope (13) by screws (16) distributed around the circumference of the pipe (11) in a cross-sectional plane. The screws (16) are lodged in carriers (17) arranged in the wall of the pipe (11) which have an internal screw-thread that mates with the screws (16). In the mounted position, a radial undersize is present in the region of each carrier (17) between the pipe (11) and the envelope (13), which is compensated when the screws (16) are tightened. For this purpose, the pipe (11) is distorted in the cross sectional plane of the screws (16) in the sections between the carriers (17). The size of the distortion is of the order of the thermal expansion of the pipe (11) to be expected at the operating temperature. This prevents constraining forces due to restricted thermal expansion from arising in the hot-pipe (11) during operation.
