    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject surface-modifying method capable of improving the wettability of a dispersing medium, a binder, etc., to a matrix by subjecting the surfaces of the carbonaceous particles to plural specific treatments. SOLUTION: This method for modifying the surfaces of the carbonaceous particles comprises subjecting the surfaces of the carbonaceous particles (e.g. carbon black) to a fluorine-containing gas treatment and subsequently to a steam-containing gas treatment. The fluorine gas-containing gas treatment preferably comprises bringing the fluorine-containing gas into contact with the surfaces of the carbonaceous particles at 0-50 deg.C for several see to 1hr. The steam-containing gas preferably comprises air and/or an inactive gas containing steam as saturated steam in a volume of 1-60vol.%. The fluorine- containing gas is preferably fluorine gas alone or its mixture with an inactive gas (e.g. nitrogen gas) and/or an O2 -containing gas. The treatment of the steam- containing gas is preferably performed at a flow rate of 50-1000ml/min and at a temperature of 150-350 deg.C for several min to several ten hr.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject molded product stably showing excellent hydrophilicity and useful in fields such as household electric appliances where at least antifouling property and easiness to be wiped are required by making the product out of a specific resin, by making fluorine, carbon and oxygen present on the surface of the product in a specific ratio and by specifying a contact angle with water on the surface. SOLUTION: This molded product features that it is made of a resin, whose main chain bonds are composed of imide bonds and/or amide bonds, preferably having a structure obtained by the condensation polymerization of an aromatic polycarboxylic acid with an aromatic diamine and that its surface has 5-60 deg. of a contact angle with water, has 0.15-0.30 of an atomic ratio (F/C) of fluorine to carbon and has 0.20-0.50 of an atomic ratio (0/C) of oxygen to carbon. The molded product is obtained by treating the surface of a molded product made of the above resin with a fluorine-containing gas, where the partial pressure of fluorine gas preferably is 1-100 mmHg, preferably under the pressure of 1 mmHg to 2 kg/cm2 at 0-50 deg.C.
