摘要： A tape recorder includes a cassette holder (1) for holding therein a tape cassette (31) which is inserted in a direction parallel to the direction of movement of a slide shutter (32) of the tape cassette, an arm-like shutter opening member (13) for opening the slide shutter of the tape cassette, a slide member (7) movable between a first position in which the tape cassette is latched on the slide member (7), and a second position in which the tape cassette is fully received in the cassette holder, and a control plate (50), connected with the slide member and engageable with the shutter opening member (13), for controlling the operation of an actuating pin (15) of the shutter opening member such that when the slide member is disposed in the first position, the actuating pin (15) is held on the outside of the cassette holder, and when the slide plate moves from the first position toward the second position, the actuating pin (15) is able to move into the cassette holder (1) and then engage and open the slide shutter of the tape cassette as the tape cassette (31) is advanced by the slide member.

摘要： A tape cassette (1) which can be recorded and played back on both sides or in opposite directions has a lid (4) having a pair of side arms (5) pivotally mounted on lateral sides of a cassette casing (1) for opening and closing a front opening in the cassette casing (1). The lid is normally (4) held in a closed position by means of springs which normally urge pivot pins on the side arms toward a rear side of the cassette casing. The tape cassette also has protective plates (17) integrally projecting in a forward direction from the lateral sides of the cassette casing (1) in covering relation to the side arms (5), respectively. The protective plate (17) protects the side arms (5) against intentional or accidental engagement with a finger or a cassette recorder, thereby preventing the lid (4) from being easily opened. The cassette recorder for use with the tape cassette (1) includes abutments for engaging distal ends of the protective plates (17) for accurately positioning the tape cassette (1) as inserted in the cassette recorder.
