    • In a data processing system in which main and sub disk storage devices are under the control of individual each disk control devices, the write processing time is reduced by selectively sending data according to the command-chaining time between main and sub disk control devices. A section for judging cable length and function of the sub disk control device 36 estimates command-chaining time between a pair of main and sub disk storage devices. The channel command analyzing section 31 estimates the number of records to be transferred and the length of a record using a LOCATE RECORD command. The command judgment section for the sub disk control device 32 optimizes the command-chain to be issued to the sub disk control device using the above-mentioned information. Then, the section for issuing command to the sub disk control device 35 issues the optimized command chain. Thus, a shorter transmission time is realized by either sending individual records or an entire track of data.

    • A sheet handling apparatus includes a sheet stacker for stacking sheets; a separating device for separating and feeding the sheets stacked on the sheet stacker; and a register roller disposed adjacent to the separating device for correcting a skew of the sheet. An ultrasonic wave sensor composed of a wave sending sensor and a wave receiving sensor is arranged between the separating device and the register roller obliquely relative to a surface of the sheet. A judging device is electrically connected to the ultrasonic wave sensor for detecting a double feed of the sheets based upon an output signal from the wave receiving sensor at a predetermined time after the register roller starts rotating. A control device electrically connected to the judging device and the register roller controls the register roller to stop and rotate.

    • A remote copy system includes a first storage device performing data transmission/reception with a host computer, a second storage device receiving data from the first storage device, and a third storage device receiving data from the second storage device. The first storage device includes a logical volume, the second storage device includes a logical volume being a virtual volume, and the third storage device includes a logical volume. The first storage system changes the state of a first pair of the logical volumes based on the state of a second pair of the logical volumes. With such a remote copy system and a method for use therein, any data backup failure can be prevented.
