摘要： Upon obtaining green light as wavelength converted light by causing infrared light to be incident on a wavelength conversion element, the absorption of the green light occurs due to the generation of ultraviolet light as sum-frequency light of the infrared light and the green light in the wavelength conversion element and the destruction of a crystal composing the wavelength conversion element occurs due to heat generated at this time. In a laser wavelength converter of the present invention, a condensed position of the infrared light in the wavelength conversion element is deviated from a position assumed to be optimal when the influence of the generated heat is ignored. Consequently, crystal destruction is suppressed, a high-efficiency wavelength conversion is enabled and high-output wavelength converted light exceeding several watts, which was difficult to attain in conventional wavelength conversion elements, is attained.

摘要： A holographic optical information recording/reproducing device is provided with a laser light source 1 and a polarizing beam splitter 8 for splitting a light from the laser light source 1. At the time of recording information, one of light beams split by the polarizing beam splitter 8 is modulated by a spatial light modulating element 2 to form a beam array, which becomes a signal light 25, whereas the other split light beam becomes a reference light 22. Interference fringes generated by the signal light 25 and the reference light 22 are recorded as holograms in a holographic disc 5. At the time of reproducing the information, only the reference light 22 is irradiated to the holographic disc 5 and its diffracted light is detected. At this time, the holographic optical information recording/reproducing device makes the power of the reference light 22 in the holographic disc 5 for information reproduction larger than a sum of the power of the reference light 22 and the power of the signal light 25 in the holographic disc 5 for information recording.

摘要： The present invention provides a planar lighting device (1) including: a laser light source (12) which emits a linearly-polarized laser beam; an optical member (13) which receives the laser beam, then parallelize the laser beam, and emits the parallelized laser beam; and a first plate-shaped light guide (20) which receives the parallelized laser beam from an end face portion (20d) and emits the parallelized laser beam from a first major surface (20b). The first light guide includes an optical element (20a) which receives the linearly-polarized parallelized laser beam propagated through the first light guide and emits at least a part of the linearly-polarized parallelized laser beam in a direction substantially vertical to the first major surface. The present invention also provides a liquid crystal display device (3) using the planar lighting device (1) as a backlight lighting device.

摘要： Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device capable of performing image display with more adequate white level, during an operation of displaying an image which requires emphasizing white. A backlight illuminator for illuminating a liquid crystal display panel comprises a white light source adapted to generate white light, in addition to a laser source adapted to generate red light, blue light and green light. When an image to be displayed on a liquid crystal display panel requires emphasizing white, white light from the white light source is emitted to a liquid crystal display panel, in addition to red light, blue light and green light from the laser source. This makes it possible to display the image which requires emphasizing white, in the form of an image with more natural image quality.

A laser beam emitted from the light source portion is guided to the liquid crystal display panel via a fiber. In this manner, it is possible to achieve a liquid crystal display device capable of significantly reducing the liquid crystal display panel in thickness and weight.

摘要： It is aimed to make optical characteristics of a photon mode optical information recording medium difficult to easily degrade with a simple construction. A disc cartridge accommodating a photon mode optical information recording medium is provided with a disc case having an opening section, and a shutter movably disposed between a closing position to close the opening section and an opening position to open the opening section. The disc case includes a light path bending portion for bending a clearance between the shutter at the closing position and the disc case at least at two points. Stray lights propagating in the clearance between the disc case and shutter is bent at least at two points.
