Liquid sodium coolant from a nuclear reactor (not shown) is passed through vertical tubes 2 extending between inlet nozzle 1 and outlet nozzle 3 of a steam generator casing 7. Water from inlet 4 flows in counter current through vertical, zig-zag or helical tubes 5, the steam so generated emerging through nozzle 6. Heat is transferred between the tube systems 2, 5 by liquid sodium acting as a heat transmission medium, which is introduced at inlet 9 and removed through outlet 10, to maintain a surface level 11. The level 11 may be varied to vary the rate of heat transfer in accordance with the load demand. The top space of the generator body contains an inert gas introduced through nozzle 13 and removed through nozzle 14. One or more rupture discs 15 may be provided in the casing 7. The generator may be of the through flow or recirculation types. It is stated to be known to heat an intermediate fluid by the coolant from the reactor core, in a separate heat exchange vessel located within or without the vessel containing the reactor, and then to circulate this intermediate fluid over steam generating tubes contained in a further vessel (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown).

    • PURPOSE:To automatically weld a metallic hanging fixture to a structure quickly by providing the respective mechanisms which moves a torch in parallel to the base metal face, moves it around the part to be welded, changes the direction and moves in the upper and lower directions, and the mechanism which fits the base part of a torch turning mechanism to the metallic hanging fixture. CONSTITUTION:An automatic welding machine 1 is fixed by utilizing a hole 5a for a metallic hanging fixture 5, by tacking the hanging fixture 5 to the optimum place of a base metal 6. Then, the coordinate for moving a welding torch 2 along the weld line of the hanging fixture 5 is stored by reading out automatically by the control mechanism. The torch 2 is moved along the weld line at one part side of the hanging fixture 5 with the actuation of a feeding mechanism 7 and turning mechanism 8, when the automatic welding machine 1 starts to weld the hanging fixture 5 automatically. The direction of the torch tip 2a is changed by a direction changing mechanism 3 when the torch 2 reaches to one end part of the hanging fixture 5. The torch 2 is then moved along the weld line at the other part side of the hanging fixture 5 are reaches to the other end part. The torch 2 is shifted and moved upto the starting point.
