    • PURPOSE:To prevent any abnormal detection due to a small impact and disturbance from occurring by inputting a diagnostic pulse into an acceleration sensor all the time and, when acceleration sensor output becomes more than a wrong operation avoiding level set to be lower than a reference impact level, stopping any input of the said level. CONSTITUTION:Output of an acceleration sensor S attached to the specified position of a car body is inputted into a first signal processing circuit 1 and a second signal processing circuit 2, and when it becomes more than a reference impact level, transistors 3, 4 are conducted, thereby activating an air bag blasting cap 5 under a mechanical acceleration sensor 6 and a power source 7. A diagnostic pulse by a diagnostic pulse generator 8 is inputted into the acceleration sensor S all the time, whereby a trouble diagnosis for the acceleration sensor S is carried out. If the acceleration sensor output becomes more than a wrong operation avoiding level set to be lower than the reference impact level, any input of the diagnostic pulse is stopped. With this constitution, any abnormal detection due to a small impact and disturbance and accumulation of diagnostic pulses is this effectively prevented from occurring.

    • PURPOSE:To certainly detect acceleration, by distorting a piezoelectric element by the relative displacement of a vibrator to a case when acceleration is generated in moving body. CONSTITUTION:The case 1 of a piezoelectric type acceleration sensor 5 is fixed to a car body and the vibrator 2 of the sensor 5 is earthed through the case 1 and the car body. When a car begins to run, acceleration is generated in the car and the vibrator 2 is relatively displaced with respect to the case 1 in proportion to said acceleration. The strain proportional to said relative displacement is generated in a piezoelectric element 3 by the relative displacement of the vibrator 2 and the element 3 generates voltage having the magnitude proportional to strain quantity. Said voltage is outputted from the first and third electrodes 4a, 4c. That is, the electrodes 4a, 4c constitute the output terminals of the sensor 5. In this case, since the electrodes 4a, 4c are arranged so as to be opposed to each other, the outputs thereof are averaged. Therefore, the voltage signals outputted from the electrodes 4a, 4c become highly accurate ones and acceleration can be certainly detected.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous operations, by comparing the output signal of an acceleration sensor for a vehicle with a specified threshold value, outputting ON/OFF signals, operating a safety apparatus when the accumulated values of the elapsed times of the ON signals exceeds a specified value, thereby operating the apparatus quickly even at the time of low speed running. CONSTITUTION:An acceleration sensor 1 converts acceleration developed in a vehicle into an electric signal and outputs the signal. The outputted acceleration signal is amplified in a differential amplifier 2 and sent to a first comparator 4 through an LPF 3. The comparator 4 compares the acceleration signal with a threshold value. When the acceleration signal exceeds the threshold value as a result of comparison, an ON signal is outputted to a timer 5. The timer 5 measures the duration of the ON signal and outputs the result to a second comparator 6. The comparator 6 accumulates the durations of the ON signal and compares the accumulated time with a threshold value. When the accumulated time exceeds the threshold value, an ON signal is outputted to a trigger device 7 and a safety apparatus is operated. In this way, the apparatus is operated relatively quickly even at the time of low speed running, and the occurrence of erroneous operations can be reduced.
