摘要： A fuel injector valve 3 is located in an intake manifold 2 downstream of a throttle valve 4. The manifold 2 has a plurality of intake branches for connection to respective cylinders and opening to a joint portion. The valve is disposed just upstream of the joint portion so as to face the openings of the intake branches. The valve 3 injects multiple sprays, each spray directed towards an opening of an intake branch to facilitate equal distribution of fuel to the cylinders. The valve 3 is controlled by an electronic control unit using two main operating parameters, fuel pressure and pulse width modulation. These are controlled within the range of 250-300 kPa for fuel pressure and 2-4 ms for driving pulse to ensure the atomised fuel particle mean diameter as expressed in a Sauter mean particle diameter is in a range of 120-200 ~m. These parameters also ensure that substantially less than 15% of the atomised fuel particles have a diameter of 80 ~m or less.

摘要： A crank angle and cylinder number detecting system for an i.c. engine has a disc (21) secured to a camshaft (7) of the engine, with a plurality of projections (22-25) formed on the periphery of the disc. An electromagnetic sensor (26) is provided adjacent the disc so as to produce pulses. The interval pattern of the pulses is determined and, from the determined pattern, the crank angle of the engine and cylinder number are precisely determined in a short time. The disc shown has four sectors corresponding to the compression strokes of the individual cylinders. Each sector has three projections 22-24 at identical, irregular spacings before t.d.c. in the respective stroke, and a single additional projection 25 is provided to identify No. 1 cylinder. The arrangement receives further inputs from sensors 10-13 and controls the engine fuel injection system.
