    • PURPOSE:To join the surfaces to be joined of two base metals by utilizing an eutectic reaction without generating voids in the joint part by interposing an insert material which induces the eutectic reaction between said surfaces and forming a melt liquid phase in an atmosphere contg. much oxygen. CONSTITUTION:A thin sheet 12 consisting of a material contg. an element which induces the eutectic reaction with a base metal 10 and a base metal 11 is inserted as the insert material between the two base metals and the surfaces to be joined are brought into contact with each other in an oxygen atomsphere under contact pressure P1. The contact surfaces are heated to the temp. above the eutectic temp. A melt liquid 14 by the eutectic reaction begins to be formed from the contact point 13 between the base metals and the insert material and the base metals begin to melt. The oxidized surface films 15 on the base metal surfaces are broken down and are incorporated into the liquid 14. The oxygen filled into the space 16 between the contact surfaces of the base metals reacts with the components in the liquid 14 and forms an oxide 17. The insert material is thoroughly consumed and the eutectic reaction ends.
