    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disc brake capable of reducing its weight.SOLUTION: A disc brake includes: a pair of end-side connecting portions 12, 13 connecting a pair of cylinder portions 11 over a disc rotor 2; and an intermediate connecting portion 16 disposed between the end-side connecting portions 12, 13, and connecting the pair of cylinder portions 11 over the disc rotor 2 and a brake pad 29. The brake pad 29 is provided with projecting piece portions 92, 92 disposed on positions at an outer end side in a rotor radial direction, and projecting to a direction separating from a central portion of the brake pad 29 in the rotor rotating direction. The end-side connecting portions 12, 13 are provided with pad engagement face portions 45, 65 disposed in a state of being opposed to inner regions in the rotor radial direction, of the projecting piece portions 92, 92, and made of a material same as a caliper body 5.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability in assembly and detachment of a spacer and to reduce cost.SOLUTION: A spacer 16 which secures an axial gap S for a disk D between a pair of friction pads 11 before a caliper 4 is assembled in a vehicle comprises a large isosceles trapezoidal column 17 inserted between the pair of friction pads 11 and a small isosceles trapezoidal column 18 that an operator can hold with a hand. The large isosceles trapezoidal column 17 and small isosceles trapezoidal column 18 are isosceles trapezoidal columns which have equal base angle, and width dimensions (X, W) and height dimensions (A, B) of the large isosceles trapezoidal column 17 and small isosceles trapezoidal column 18 are set to be dimensions matched with a length dimension ratio. Consequently, assembly and detachment of the spacer 16 are facilitated and accordingly, operability can be improved, and the yield of the spacer 16 during manufacture can be improved, so that the cost can be reduced.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the sense of brake operation by solving a gap between a piston seal and a seal groove in a disk brake. SOLUTION: A seal groove 15 is formed on the inner circumferential surface of a cylinder bore 13 provided on a caliper body, a piston seal 16 having a rectangular section is fitted to the seal groove 15. A piston 17 is inserted to the cylinder bore 13, and the cylinder bore 13 and the piston 17 are sealed by the piston seal 16. The inclination of a bottom surface part 15A of the seal groove 16 to the axial direction of the cylinder bore 13 is set to 5°, and the angle between the bottom surface part 15A and a side surface part 15b is set to 87°. According to this, an outer circumferential surface 16A and a side surface 16B of the piston seal 16 can be closely fitted to the bottom surface part 15A and side surface part 15B of the seal groove 15 with the piston 17 being installed to the cylinder bore 13, and the gap between the both can be eliminated to improve the sense of brake operation.
