摘要： According to the present invention, a rearview mirror comprises a first substrate having a front surface and a rear surface, a reflective coating disposed on a surface of the first substrate, and an electronic circuit component secured to the rear surface of the first sub;>trate. The mirror element may be an electrochromic mirror element comprising a transparent second substrate positioned in front of the first substrate. The electronic component secured to the rear surface may be a component of a drive circuit for the electrochromic mirror element. The rearview mirror element may further comprise electrically conductive tracings provided on the rear surface of the first substrate electrically coupled to the electrical component. The tracings may be used to electrically couple the drive circuit to the electrodes of the electrochromic mirror element. The tracings may be deposited on the rear surface using numerous methods including inkjet printing techniques.

摘要： According to one embodiment of the present invention, an electrochromic rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes an electrochromic mirror (110, 920) having a variable reflectivity, a glare sensor (160, 234) for sensing levels of light directed towards the front element from the rear of the vehicle, an ambient sensor (232) for sensing levels of ambient light, a display (146, 170) positioned behind the partially transmissive, partially reflective portion of the reflector for displaying information therethrough; and a control circuit (230, 900) coupled to the sensors and the display. The control circuit determines whether daytime or nightime conditions are present as a function of the ambient light level sensed by the glare sensor to control a contrast ratio of light originating from the display and light reflecting from the partially transmissive, partially reflective area of the reflector.

摘要： An electronic compass system (100) includes a magnetic sensor circuit (102) having at least two sensing elements (104, 106, 108) for sensing perpendicular components of the Earth’s magnetic field vector. A processing circuit (110) is coupled to the sensor circuit to filter, process, and compute a heading. The processing circuit further selects an approximating geometric pattern, such as a sphere, ellipsoid, ellipse, or circle, determines an error metric of the data points relative to the approximating pattern, adjusts the pattern to minimize the error, thereby obtaining a best fit pattern. The best fit pattern is then used to calculate the heading for each successive sensor reading provided that the noise level is not noisy and until a new best fit pattern is identified. The electronic compass system is particularly well suited for implementation in a vehicle rearview mirror assembly (140).

摘要： A vehicle (11) includes a mirror assembly (10) including components of a Loran positioning system (13). The mirror assembly may include an H-field antenna (44), receiver circuitry (45), a processor (50a), memory and a user interface (50b). The Loran system communicates received data with various other vehicle systems over a data bus (50c). Location data obtained from the Loran system is used to ascertain vehicle location, speed and heading. And to improve accuracy and availability of GPS data and to calibrate the vehicle compass and odometer. The accuracy of GPS position estimates is improved by combining data from both positioning systems. The GPS data is further improved by differential GPS (d-GPS) data received by the Loran positioning system and communicated to the GPS positioning system. The availability of the GPS is improved since less than four channels of satellite signals are needed when combined with the Loran signals.
