摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method in which the evaluation of the state of the contents in a container can be limited up to an empty distance region and in which an empty state can be discriminated surely by a method wherein, when echo waves are not detected in a distance region up to an empty distance in an ordinary measuring operation, the state of the contents is evaluated and the detected echo waves are allocated to the empty distance. SOLUTION: In an ordinary measuring operation, the envelope curve H of microwaves received by a reception and evaluation circuit 28 is evaluated only in a distance region up to an empty region DL corresponding to the interval between an antenna 22 and a container bottom part 12. When a container 10 is empty, an echo does not exist in an evaluation region because the bottom part 12 is curved. At this time, the envelope curve H is evaluated in an expansion distance region which exceeds the empty distance DL, and, when an echo E' is detected, a distance D' corresponding to its propagation time is not allocated, but the empty distance DL is allocated. Thereby, that the antenna 10 is empty is indicated correctly, and, on the other hand, that a distance measuring device 20 is operated correctly is detected. In addition, when the echo E' is not detected, an error state is indicated.

摘要： The method involves arranging an antenna of a distance measuring device above or at least level with the fill height. The antenna emits microwaves downwards and receives reflected microwaves. The received microwaves are analysed to determine the echo waves reflected at the substance surface, to measure the propagation time of the echo waves and to calculate the distance between the substance surface and the antenna from the measured propagation time. In normal measuring operation, the received microwaves are analysed in the distance range up to the empty distance corresponding to the distance between the antenna and the bottom of the container. When no echo waves are determined in this distance range, the analysis is carried out in an expanded range.

摘要： For measuring the level of a material in a container on the basis of the radar principle, microwaves are radiated downwards and reflected microwaves received by means of the antenna of a ranging device arranged above the highest level anticipated. In the normal measuring operation the received microwaves are evaluated in the distance range up to empty distance corresponding to the distance of the antenna from the bottom of the container for determining the echo waves reflected from the surface of the material, for measuring the transit time of the echo waves and for computing the distance of the material surface from the antenna of the ranging device from the measured transit time. In order to reliably detect the empty condition of a container having a curved bottom, despite the multiple reflections of the microwaves reflected from the container bottom, when no echo waves are detected in the distance range up to the empty distance, the evaluation is done in an enlarged distance range and any echo waves detected in the enlarged distance range beyond the empty distance are assigned to the empty distance.
