    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler which can effectively reduce the volume of exhaust sound without bringing about a drop of engine output and an increase in the weight while the constitution remains simple and can be embodied at low cost.SOLUTION: The muffler includes: an inner cylinder in which the exhaust gas from an exhaust pipe flows; an outer cylinder covering the inner cylinder; a sound absorbing material packed in a space between the outer and inner cylinders, and; a plurality of communication holes formed in the circumferential wall of the inner cylinder, wherein the inner cylinder is furnished with an exhaust gas lead-out part through which the exhaust gas flowing in the inner cylinder is led toward the sound absorbing material, and in one part of the circumferential wall of the inner cylinder, the exhaust gas lead-out part has an aperture which has such a shape as protruding toward the axis from the circumferential wall of the inner cylinder and is open to the exhaust gas upstream side.
